Diageo boss to retire after 27 years at firm

Andrew Morgan, Diageo’s long-standing president of new business, is to retire in September this yearMorgan will step down from the Executive Committee on 30 June 2014 and leave the company on 30 September 2014, after which he will continue to take on a number of non-executive board positions.
Prior to his appointment as president of new business in November 2012, Morgan spent seven years as president of Diageo Europe.
In 1987, he joined Guinness – which merged with Grand Metropolitan to create Diageo in 1997 – and has since held a succession of marketing, strategy and general management roles.
“Andrew has played an instrumental part in growing Diageo over his 27 years with the company,” said Ivan Menezes, CEO of Diageo. “He has spent over 12 years on our Executive Committee and has enjoyed a career of enormous breadth and contribution.
“I am grateful to him for the major role he has played in extending Diageo’s outstanding global reach and presence in high growth markets.”
