Awards season is well underway and this week it was the turn of The Brits, which Belvedere Vodka chose as the perfect occasion to reveal its latest release – the Silver Sabre, packaged in an unusual LED bottle. Bottles were created with the names of the celebrities attending the party.

Kilt clad cricket legend Sir Ian Botham paid a visit to Deanston Distillery to officially launch the 2014 Stirling International Angling Festival and mark the start of Stirling’s salmon fishing season.

Jim Beam has released its first “Make History” TV commercial starring Hollywood beauty, Mila Kunis. In the commercial, Kunis takes viewers on a journey through some of Beam’s 219-year history, including the American Civil War, prohibition, 1960s and 1980s.

This week Bacardi launched its 2014 Cruise Competition devoted to the “Inspired Cocktail”. Entrants have been tasked with creating a drink using one of the Bacardi brands that reflects how travel has inspired their personal style of cocktail making, with the grand prize od $5,000 plus the chance to experience a range of Bacardi events up for grabs.

On Tuesday the sb team headed over to one of London’s trendiest nightspots Mahiki for the second heat of The Wenneker Swizzle Masters 2014 cocktail competition. Our thirsty judges enjoyed an afternoon of sipping fruity Scotch cocktails expertly mixed by bartender, Lukas Juranek.

Bartender Mihai Fetcu, of Bar Dome, Romania, has created what he claims to be the oldest cocktail in Romania at a wedding fair. Made from Ron Guajiro Oro (1970), Marie Brizard Charletno Follies (1980) and Armagnac Des Seigneurs (1970),  Fetcu presented his drink in 1940 metal vintage coupe and topped it off with a cherry that had been macerated in Armagnac for 44 years.

On Wednesday evening some of the sb team headed out onto the roof terrace of London’s Coq d’Argent to enjoy a night of stargazing and cocktails, created by Pawel Rolka and aptly named the Starlight, Galaxies, Telescope and Meteor Shower.

Crystal Head Vodka’s iconic skull-shaped bottle has inspired forensic artist, Nigel Cockerton, to create what he believes a Crystal Head vodka bottle might look like if it were a real human face.

Bacardi edged closer to finding its next classic cocktail on Tuesday USBG Legacy Cocktail Showcase Finals. Naomi Levy, pictured above, was crowned the winner of the US qualifying showcase with her drink Guayaba Arabica, and will now represent the US in the global finals in Moscow this May.
