Last call for Young Spirits Writer Award entries
By Becky PaskinCalling all spirits writers – there is less than one month left to get your entries into the 2013 Alan Lodge International Young Spirits Writer of the Year award.
Last year’s winner Hamish Smith (far left) receives the inaugural Alan Lodge Young Writers Award from Daisy Jones, Margaret Lodge and Colin LodgeNow in it’s second year, the award is designed to recognise the world’s most talented spirits writers aged 35 and under.
Bloggers, writers and journalists from all around the world are invited to enter the award, although time is running out to get entries in this year, with a deadline of 30 September 2013.
Although run by The Spirits Business, the award will be judges by an entirely independent panel of judges.
This year’s winner will be announced at The Spirits Masters Lunch in December, and will be awarded with an all-expenses-paid trip to the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay.
The rules are:
– Entrants must be aged 35 or under as of 30 September 2013
– Entrants may submit up to four pieces of original work each that must have been published either in print or online between September 2012 and September 2013 and written in the English language
– Entries must be submitted as word documents to info@thespiritsbusiness.com with the subject headed “Alan Lodge International Young Spirits Writer of the Year Award 2013”
– All entries will be scored out of 10 for content and style
