Glenglassaugh 30 Year Old first release from BenRiach
By Becky PaskinBenRiach Distillery Company has released a Glenglassaugh 30 Year Old single malt Scotch – its first release since acquiring the distillery earlier this year.
Glenglassaugh 30 Year Old is the first of several planned releases this yearThe release, which comes just five months after BenRiach took over the Glenglassaugh distillery in March, is the first step in a planned reinvention of the brand.
Back in March, BenRiach’s MD and master blender Billy Walker said: “It’s our intention to bring this iconic distillery fully back to life by giving it the investment, commitment and care it deserves.
“I believe our whisky expertise, proven brand-building ability and strong routes to market will help take Glenglassaugh to the next level.”
The Glenglassaugh 30 Year Oldis described as having a tropical fruit nose with additional mango, orange and figs on the palate with sultanas, sherry, toffee and ginger spice.
Sales Director Alistair Walker said: “The 30 Year Old is a great example of the unique Glenglassaugh character – complex fruit flavours, sherry overtones, spices and a lasting finish.”
The release is the first of a number of planned developments for Glenglassaugh, in response to strong demand for the brand in global markets.
BenRiach bought the Banffshire distillery from Amsterdam-based owner Lumiere Holdings for an undisclosed sum. BenRiach also owns the GlenDronach Distillery and brand it acquired in 2008.
