Reyka Vodka launches Icelandic music festival competition
By Amy HopkinsReyka Vodka has launched a competition that will allow budding rock stars from the US to secure the spotlight at the Iceland Airwaves Festival.
Bands, DJs, and solo artist can enter the competition, which opens up to fans at the end of the monthThe Icelandic vodka brand, which is the first vodka to be distilled in Iceland and is owned by William Grant, is giving two undiscovered bands, solo artists, or DJs the chance to play in front of thousands at its homeland’s famous music festival.
An additional contest will also be held that will allow two music fans to win tickets to the event, with VIP access, a special tour of Sigur Ros’s studio and a visit to the geothermal Reykjavik.
Reyka senior brand manager Lindsay Prociw said: “Iceland makes up for its small population with a uniquely inventive and innovative culture, exemplified in the development of Iceland’s very first vodka distillery and a selection of a rare Carter-Head still instead of more traditional options.
“We want our creative friends around the world to flock to Reyka’s land as a beacon of inspiration and imagination, and we’re happy to Shepard them one band, or fan, at a time.”
Groups, musicians and DJs who want the opportunity to take to the stage at the festival, should submit three of their own songs via Reyka’s entry page on Grooveshark, which closes on 19 August.
Festival fans should apply through Reyka’s Facebook page between 30 August to 30 September.
Reyka has been running the competition since it became one of the official sponsors of the festival three years ago.
