Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask debuts in travel retail
The limited edition Taiwanese single malt from Kavalan Distillery was aged in a single first-fill Madeira cask.

Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask is a single cask, cask strength single malt with an ABV of 57.8%.
The expression is offered non-chill filtered with no added colouring and is presented in a 1-litre bottle, limited to 142 bottles worldwide.
It will be available in global travel retail locations in South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan.
Tasting notes mention cherry, grape, apple, cinnamon, butter, toffee, almond, and vanilla.
Y T Lee, Chairman of Kavalan’s owner King Car Group, said: “To age our whisky, we’ve chosen casks that previously held wine made from Tinta Negra, Madeira’s principal grape variety, whose intense fruit character beautifully complements Kavalan’s tropical whisky style.”
Madeira fortified wines have been produced on their namesake island – today an autonomous Portuguese territory – since the 16th century.
Kavalan has described Madeira as ‘voyage wine’ in reference to the fact that the style was developed specifically to survive long periods in cask during sea voyages.
Kavalan Distillery was founded by King Car Group in Yilan County, Taiwan, in 2005.
In 2025, three Kavalan whiskies achieved Master standard at the World Whisky Masters in the Asian Single Malt (excluding Japan and India) category: Kavalan Solist Palo Cortado Sherry Single Cask, Solist Ex-Bourbon Single Cask, and Solist Madeira Single Cask.
In March 2026, the distillery partnered with Gulf Brands International to enter the on-trade, off-trade and travel retail in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The following month, Kavalan engaged Scotland-based SipWell Brands to increase its presence in UK travel retail.
