Beudi creates Australian cocktail book

Agave spirit brand Beudi has released a cocktail book that ‘distils Australian culture and native flavours’ across 30 recipes.

Jack Connor, co-founder of Beudi and owner of Rosella’s Bar in the City of Gold Coast, created the recipes, which are built around the brand’s two core spirits, Blanco and Margi Spirit.

Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber agave spirit that was fermented, distilled and bottled in Australia. It sits at 37% ABV.

Margi Spirit is an Australian agave spirit blended with a house-made lime liqueur, with the citrus sourced from Indigenous-owned social enterprise Bush to Bowl. Similar to a triple sec, the spirit sits at 35% ABV.

“This started as a way to get the recipes out of my head and into bars. Somewhere along the way, it turned into a full snapshot of what Beudi tastes like – fun, a bit nostalgic, but still serious about flavour,” said Connor.

Cocktails with an Aussie twist include the Paperbark Paloma and the Smashed Avo Margi.

The book was released on 15 July and retails for AU$50 (US$35). A gift box featuring a 200ml bottle of Beudi’s Blanco and Margi Spirit is also available for AU$110 (US$77).

Each recipe comes with build time, standard drink count, glassware specification, method and preparation notes from Jack.

Long-time Beudi collaborator Jessie Prince handled the photography, with the book featuring both cocktail shots and outback landscapes.

“We didn’t set out to make a book. We set out to show how versatile the spirit is. The book just became the best way to do it,” added Beudi co-founder Pat Coulson.
