Helmsman Imports brings Bottle Dreams to US

New York-based Helmsman Imports has partnered with Dutch independent whisky bottler Bottle Dreams to support the brand’s entry into the US.

Bottle Dreams aims to tap into the US’s ultra-premium whisky market

Under the new partnership, Helmsman Imports will manage Bottle Dream’s compliance, importation, and market access for its US market launch.

Rob Wijkhuizen, founder of Bottle Dreams, said: “The US has always been the goal, but the regulatory complexity makes it a market you can’t enter alone. Helmsman understands how to move rare, limited products through a system built for volume brands, and that’s exactly what we needed.”

The Netherlands-based Bottle Dreams is part of the Perfect Dram group. As an independent whisky bottler, the brand sources individual casks from across Scotland and releases them in limited quantities.

The partnership is said to demonstrate ongoing demand for unique Scotch options in the American market, especially in the ultra-premium and collector segments, where limited releases and stories of provenance are becoming increasingly significant.

Janzen Eagler, chief strategy officer of Helmsman Imports, explained: “Most Scotch brands are built around consistency and scale. Bottle Dreams is built around access to casks most brands never see, and the discipline to release them in a way that preserves their rarity.”

Eagler also noted that the US market “doesn’t reward scarcity alone, but brands that know how to position it and navigate the system behind it”.

Helmsman Imports has established expertise in single barrel and limited release programmes in the US. Its portfolio includes brands such as Rare Character Whiskey and Paladar Tequila.

Earlier this month, Helmsman announced its partnership with distributor 7th Sky Ventures in Florida.
