Chichibu creates whisky for Selfridges
By Miona MadsenJapanese single malt distillery Chichibu has partnered with UK department store Selfridges to release an exclusive single cask bottling.

The limited edition Japanese single malt follows an inaugural collaboration between Chichibu and Selfridges in 2019.
Chichibu Distillery Single Malt Whisky x Selfridges was distilled in 2018 and aged for seven years in a first-fill Bourbon barrel. It was bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 59.5% ABV, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring.
On the nose, the single malt offers aromas of candied citrus, roasted orchard fruits, honeysuckle, and a hint of sweet cinnamon.
The palate offers additional layers of ripe peach and brown sugar, with lingering vanilla sweetness.
The expression’s label design is inspired by the theatrical window displays at Selfridges, which are regarded as art-like installations and are central to the store’s identity.
Limited to 195 bottles, the whisky will be available at Selfridges’ London, Manchester and Birmingham stores and online from today (20 May).
The 700ml bottle has a recommended retail price of £265 (US$354).
Chichibu Distillery was established in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, with distillation commencing in 2008. Its highly sought-after releases have earned a cult following among whisky enthusiasts.
Chichibu is represented in the UK by Speciality Brands.
