Arran 14YO returns alongside new 30YO
By Miona MadsenLochranza Distillery has relaunched its 14-year-old single malt and welcomed a 30-year-old whisky into its core range.

More than six years after its discontinuation during the 2019 rebranding, Arran 14-year-old is returning to the distillery’s core range.
The ‘much‑loved classic’ was first released in 2010 to celebrate the distillery’s 15th anniversary, alongside other bottlings.
Now the expression returns with a ‘slightly adjusted’ recipe and under a new label design.
The whisky is primarily matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, as well as in Palo Cortado Sherry casks.
Bottled at 46% ABV, it displays aromas of fruit syrup, apples, and mandarin on the nose, accompanied by cereal sweetness and a subtle saltiness. The palate reveals notes of salted apples, toffee, mango, and gentle oak.
The brand has also introduced a 30-year-old expression, marking the oldest age-statement whisky in its core range.
To create the release, the team selected old and rare Sherry hogshead-matured whiskies from some of the distillery’s earliest years.
The expression, also offered at 46% ABV, features aromas of burnt orange, star anise, and cinnamon. On the palate, it delivers notes of honey, ripe orchard fruits, vanilla, and cloves, with layers of toffee apple and orange zest on the finish.
Euan Mitchell, managing director of Isle of Arran Distillers, said: “This 30 Year Old is a proud milestone for us, showcasing the depth and character that comes with time, care and our commitment to doing things the right way on Arran. It’s a rare glimpse into our earliest spirit, matured to its full potential.”
These launches continue the momentum from the distillery’s 30th anniversary last year, which was celebrated with a festival weekend in Lochranza and the release of 30 Palo Cortado private casks.
Arran 14 Year Old has a recommended retail price of £69.99 (US$94), and 30 Year Old is priced at £695 (US$935).
The two whiskies join the distillery’s core range alongside 10 Year Old, Barrel Reserve, Sherry Cask, and Quarter Cask. Other releases include an 18-year-old and a 25-year-old single malt.
Packaging update
Isle of Arran Distillers has recently updated the labels and gift tube designs for its entire Arran single malt range. The new packaging uses colour, texture, and design to distinguish different expressions while preserving the identity established in the 2019 rebrand.
The packaging update is part of Arran’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, with new glass bottles by Vista made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass. This is said to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the bottles’ premium quality, weight, and feel.
The refreshed packaging continues to use FSC-certified paper, which supports responsible sourcing and helps preserve the tactile, textured finish of the labels and tubes.
Jaclyn McKie, head of marketing at Isle of Arran Distillers, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have seen the brand grow so much following our successful rebrand in 2019, and we’re always looking for ways to evolve, both in sustainability and design, to reflect the quality of the single malt whisky we craft every day.”
Founded in 1995 on the Isle of Arran, located on the west coast of Scotland, Lochranza Distillery (then known as Arran) is credited with restoring whisky-making on the island.
Today, the island is a tourist destination for whisky enthusiasts and home to another Isle of Arran Distillers-owned distillery, Lagg.
