Kentucky’s Yellowstone Bourbon has donated US$25,000 to the National Parks Conservation Association after renewing its annual partnership.

Since the partnership began in 2018, the brand has contributed more than US$1 million to the National Parks Conservation Association’s (NPCA) efforts to strengthen and protect the nation’s national parks.

Yellowstone’s master distiller, Stephen Beam, said: “I grew up visiting national parks and the excitement of exploration and being surrounded by nature has been with me ever since.

“Having the opportunity to give back and see the impact we’re making is a dream come true, and I hope people will be inspired to get out and enjoy the parks and do what they can to keep them preserved for generations to come.”

Alongside its donations, some of Yellowstone’s contributions to the NPCA over the years have included videos, music and social media campaigns to highlight and raise awareness of preservation, commemorative special-edition Bourbons, and on-the-ground adventures with Beam himself that explore Yellowstone National Park.

The brand was also awarded the National Park Defender Award by the NPCA in 2023, which recognises a partner that ‘demonstrates exceptional dedication to national park protection’.

For 2026, which is also the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Yellowstone Bourbon will be part of the organisation’s year-long public engagement campaign: United by Parks.

Tiernan Sittenfeld, president and CEO of NPCA, said the brand has been “an incredible ally in our work to protect our national parks, including their unparalleled beauty and rich history”.

“As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday this year, we’re all in to defend and commemorate America’s best idea, just as we have for more than a century. And we know Yellowstone Bourbon is too,” she added.

In the brand’s other recent activity, Yellowstone gave its Recollection Bourbon, inspired by back-bar bottles from the 1800s, a wider release in the US.

The brand also entered the ready-to-serve (RTS) category last year, which Beam discussed with The Spirits Business.

The bottled cocktails will support the Vital Ground Foundation, which helps preserve and protect threatened grizzly bear habitat.

The brand is part of MGP Ingredients’ portfolio, following its acquisition of parent firm Luxco in 2021. It is produced at Limestone Branch Distillery.

MGP recently announced it would pause operations at Limestone Branch and its other Kentucky distillery, Lux Row Distillers, as whiskey demand drops.
