Mumford & Sons star opens Mitsi in LA

Mitsi has opened today (17 April) as a ‘love letter’ to Los Angeles and the city’s creatives, created by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett.

Located at the intersection of Mission Junction and Chinatown, the venue was developed by TVG, Lovett’s entertainment hospitality company, formerly known as the Venue Group.

Other TVG venues include Omeara in London and the newly opened Pacific Electric, also in LA.

Inspired by the idea of ‘communal gathering spaces’, Mitsi aims to be a third space for LA’s creatives. The space can host more than 150 guests, with 110 seats and a blend of indoor and outdoor spaces.

“Los Angeles has been a host to many memories for me, and I’ve wanted to give something back to the neighbourhood and the people who shape it,” said Lovett.

“After years of touring, this city gave me more than shows and late nights – it gave me connection. Mitsi is a love letter to LA and the creative people who make it what it is: a place that feels elevated without ever being intimidating, where inclusivity isn’t just a concept, and where people feel comfortable enough to return again and again.

“Mitsi is created with the same principles as any of our TVG music venues: create a space for people to connect, listen to one another, and welcome all.”

The bar’s drinks programme is based on reimagined classics, such as the Rosé Martini, made with a housemade rosé cordial. Its house Old Fashioned features rye whiskey, Amontillado Sherry, miso honey and Doctor Bird Overproof Rum.

Other highlights include a mezcal-forward, coconut-washed Jungle Bird, and a Paloma featuring Tequila, Aperol, watermelon radish and passionfruit.

The bar also offers a dedicated alcohol-free cocktail menu, as well as wine, beer and sake.

Chef Jon Kim has created the food menu, based on high-quality sushi and sashimi.

Third spaces and all-day concepts were one of SB‘s cocktail trends to watch in 2026.
