Espolòn celebrates short kings with The Hangover’s Ken Jeong

Campari Group-owned Espolòn Tequila has teamed up with actor and comedian Ken Jeong on a new campaign for Short King Week.

Short King Week takes place on 1-9 May, with Espolòn’s campaign cheekily honouring the ‘confident underdogs who know their worth and prove that quality has nothing to do with height’.

Espolòn claims its bottle is ‘admittedly, a bit of a short king’, while Jeong is 5’5. “I feel very seen by this campaign,” he said. “As someone who’s never exactly been the tallest guy in the room, I appreciate any movement that celebrates confidence over height.

“What I love about Espolòn is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. They’re just focused on making great Tequila and are having fun with it. That energy felt incredibly relatable to me. Finally, some branding I don’t have to look up to.”

Jeong, who is best-known for roles in The Hangover and Community, will lend his voice to a series of videos that blend parody, internet humour and ‘self-aware storytelling’.

Wavelength produced and Micah Perta directed the campaign. It aims to highlight the quality of Espolòn’s Tequila, which is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.

Espolòn has also created a Nine Days of Short Kings advent calendar, which includes ‘fun-size’ essentials for making the perfect Margarita at home. These include a 375ml bottle each of Espolòn Blanco and Reposado, a cocktail shaker, a jigger, agave syrup, chilli-lime and salt garnishes, sour candy mix and a deck of ‘short king-approved’ playing cards.

It will be available for purchase for US$75 on Espolòn’s website.

Brian Chang, agave spirits US category lead and head of consumer marketing at Campari America, added: “Tequila and society often fixate on appearance. Espolòn focuses on what’s inside, and this campaign brings that idea to life with humor and an unapologetic point of view.

“Ken embodies that spirit, and together we’re celebrating short kings everywhere.”

Espolòn is the seventh biggest-selling Tequila in the world, according to data from The Brand Champions 2025 report.

The brand’s sales rose by 3% in Campari Group’s 2025 financial reading, but saw contrasting results for its reposado (up by 8%) and blanco (down by 1%).

Campari Group CEO Simon Hunt will focus on the company’s big brands for 2026, which includes Espolòn as its flagship Tequila.
