Sepulto Mezcal debuts in Europe
Michoacán mezcal brand Sepulto will make its European debut this weekend at ProWein Düsseldorf (15-17 March), followed by a launch in Italy.

Sepulto Mezcal Artesanal derives its name from the Latin word ‘sepultus,’ which means ‘buried,’ paying tribute to the region’s strong cultural connection to Día de los Muertos.
The name references a regional tradition in which mezcal matures underground for 12 months after distillation.
This method allows the mezcal to soften, integrate, and deepen, resulting in smoky notes and raw agave giving way to more contemplative herbal layers and bright citrus notes.
Sepulto will make its European debut with two expressions at ProWein Düsseldorf in partnership with Stockholm-based distributor AliasSmith.
The first of the two, Sepulto Ensamble, combines three agave varieties native to Michoacán: Espadín, Manso Sahuayo, and Papalote.
Sepulto Single Agave, on the other hand, is crafted from Manso Sahuayo, a single regional agave variety that thrives in mineral-rich soils. This agave, recognised for its naturally high sugar content, yields a mezcal characterised by a fruity and herbal profile.
Both expressions are certified artisanal mezcal with a designation of origin, produced using traditional methods such as underground brick-oven cooking, tahona milling, and copper pot distillation.
Sepulto Mezcal is distilled at Grupo PSA’s La Huaracha Casa Destiladora in Jiquilpan, Michoacán.
After debuting at ProWein Düsseldorf 2026, Sepulto Mezcal will launch on the Italian market in collaboration with Eleven Trade Import.
Additional European markets will follow later this year.
