The partnership enhances Charter Brands’ offering in the premium gin category, which already includes Langley’s Gin.

Charter Brands intends to focus on building the Renais Gin brand in existing markets and with current partners, while also exploring its global potential.

For Renais, Asia will be the priority market, with additional efforts to develop opportunities across Europe and Africa.

Matt Ashton-Melia, managing director of Charter Brands, commented: “Choosing the right super premium gin to enter the Charter Brands portfolio wasn’t a straightforward task.

“We wanted a brand with real shelf-appeal, a strong back story, and a production process which set itself apart; all while still targeting an attractive RSP (retail selling price) and with an owner who understood the brand-building process and the challenges of the category in today’s market.

“Renais Gin ticked every single box, and in Alex, we have a brand owner who’s passionate, supportive, but also patient in his approach to building this brand the right way to ensure longevity and long-term success.”

Renais is a modern gin co-founded by the Watson siblings. It is sustainably distilled from French wine grapes and enriched with flavours from local terroir and fresh botanicals.

The gin is said to reflect France’s rich viticultural heritage and represents a second-generation winemaking family from the Domaine Watson vineyards in Chablis.

The name Renais is derived from ‘Renaissance,’ which means rebirth, and embodies the brand’s mission to create something modern, and also grounded in heritage and responsibility.

Alex Watson commented on the partnership: “We’re thrilled to partner with Charter Brands as our global distributor. Their reach, experience, and values align perfectly with Renais’ mission to bring modern, terroir gin to more drinkers around the globe.”

Earlier this year, Renais Gin secured an on-trade partnership with Fallow as the London restaurant’s exclusive gin.

Earlier this month, Charter Brands announced its merger with Scale Drinks and welcomed Duppy Share Rum to its portfolio.
