Lucky One offers alternative to ‘artificial’ malt iced teas

After hitting one million cases last year, Gallo-owned Lucky One has revealed its first line extension: Sweet Tea.

Ready-to-drink (RTD) brand Lucky One surpassed one million nine-litre cases just seven months after its launch in April last year.

The canned vodka lemonade brand has now revealed Lucky One Sweet Tea as its first innovation.

The new 4.5% ABV range features four 100-calorie flavours: Original, Half & Half, Peach, and Raspberry.

The non-carbonated line was created in opposition to a crowded category of ‘malt-based, artificial, low-flavour and often acidic iced teas’.

It claims to be the first vodka-based sweet tea brewed with ‘real’ tea and premium vodka.

Lucky One Sweet Tea is also said to be made without artificial flavours or high-fructose corn syrup.

“Lucky One quickly grew to over a million cases by listening closely to what consumers, especially younger drinkers, want: bold flavour, real ingredients, and brands that feel culturally relevant,” said Britt West, chief commercial officer at Gallo.

“Sweet tea is a natural next step for us. As the category has rapidly expanded, we saw a clear opportunity to premiumise the space – delivering the sweeter, full-flavour, and sessionable taste consumers are increasingly seeking, while staying true to the values that make Lucky One more than just a beverage brand.”

For Lucky One’s launch last year, Gallo partnered with Instagram ‘furfluencer’ pit bull Miss Peaches to support dog rescue organisations. Miss Peaches has pledged to raise US$1 million for the cause.

The brand will continue to support Best Friends Animal Society and Lifeline Animal Project as part of its goal to ensure every dog has a home.

Lucky One Sweet Tea is available in a pack of four single-flavour 355ml cans for US$10.99 and a variety eight-pack for US$19.99.
