Diplomático unveils ‘most treasured’ release to date
Brown-Forman-owned Diplomático has revealed its most exclusive rum to date – an ultra-rare prestige expression that has undergone a bespoke cask maturation sequence.
Joining Diplomático’s Prestige Range, which currently comprises Ambassador and Single Vintage, the latest expression, Chancellor, is described as a ‘sensory manifesto of the brand’s commitment to excellence’.
Representing a celebration of ‘unhurried craftsmanship’ and created for ‘those who seek out the extraordinary and value the profound depth of a truly rare spirit’, Chancellor is said to be the culmination of patient maturation and skilful blending.
Drawing on a heritage of rum-making that dates back to 1959, Diplomático Chancellor brings together the Venezuelan distillery’s most complex, heavy pot-still rums, which have undergone a rigorous triple-cask maturation process.
Diplomático’s team of maestros roneros utilised a bespoke sequence of French virgin oak, American virgin oak, and seasoned American oak casks for the triple maturation, which they say has imparted a ‘structured complexity’.
The nose presents aromas of heavy wood, dark caramel, and cured tobacco, accented by delicate spices.
On the palate, it reveals an elegant, Cognac-like fruit body, with notes of ripe peach and bright citrus that meet the velvety warmth of vanilla.
At 47% ABV, Chancellor has been designed to be savoured neat.

Diplomático Chancellor is a strictly limited release, with only 900 bottles available worldwide.
It is presented in a bespoke prestige decanter that seeks to reflect the ‘timeless elegance’ of the brand.
It is now available in the UK via The Whisky Exchange for RRP £1,900 (US$2,533).
