Would you gift a distillery tour for Valentine’s Day?
By Miona MadsenEurope’s ‘largest’ rum distillery, DropWorks in Nottinghamshire, is encouraging couples to swap traditional gifts for shared moments this Valentine’s Day.

According to the 2025 Valentine’s Day Survey conducted by Create Gift Love, couples are increasingly opting to replace traditional gifts such as flowers, chocolates, and teddy bears with memorable experiences.
The survey, which included more than 1,000 respondents, found that generic gifts without a personal touch were considered among the ‘worst’ ever received, just slightly better than receiving ‘nothing at all’.
Some of the most cherished Valentine’s Day gifts were said to be experience-based.
Lewis Hayes, founder and master distiller at DropWorks Rum, suggested distillery experiences as an option for those looking to elevate their special day.
He explained: “Immersive experiences can make the best Valentine’s Day gifts, giving you and your loved one the opportunity to make lasting memories together. While flowers eventually wilt and chocolates get eaten, a shared moment can become a permanent part of your story.
“Perfect for drink enthusiasts and those curious to discover something new this February, DropWorks’ distillery tours are a great example of a truly memorable gift. During the experience, our team of experts deconstruct everything you need to know about the production of our Drops, with a walkthrough of the unique ingredients behind our full range, and there is the opportunity to enjoy plenty of tastings along the way.
“Or, for those wanting to take it a step further, join us at the bar for our cask tasting experience, where you’ll delve deeper into the tasting, maturation and magic that happens inside the barrel.”
DropWorks has also shared a Valentine’s Day cocktail recipe for those celebrating at home.
