Michele Mariotti departs Gleneagles
By Lauren BowesGleneagles’ head of bars, Michele Mariotti, has left his role after six years for a new position at a luxury hotel in Oxfordshire in England.

Mariotti joined the hotel in Auchterarder, Scotland, in 2020 as head of mixology and manager of the Century Bar. He was promoted to head of bars in 2023.
His LinkedIn profile states he became assistant director of food and beverage at Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire this month (February). Estelle Manor is part of Ennismore, the hospitality group that owns Gleneagles.
Posting on Instagram, he said: “After six of the most formative, engaging and exciting years of my career, tomorrow will be my last day here at the Glen.
“Over the course of my tenure here, we embarked on a mission to deliver the most comprehensive food and beverage experience in the world. What I did not expect was the incredible people I met along the way.
“Gleneagles is a special place, one that cannot be brought to life with words. I am grateful for the trust and opportunities I was given to leave my small mark on such an institution.
“But more importantly, I am grateful for the commitment and energy that Andrea [Gardiner] and Emilio [Giovanazzi] have delivered. Seeing you blossom into the leaders you have become is my proudest career achievement.
“I cannot wait to share my next step with you all.”
It is not yet known if Mariotti will be replaced, however it is believed assistant bar manager Gardiner and head bartender Giovanazzi will steer the ship following his departure.
Under Mariotti’s leadership, Gleneagles’ American Bar created the Rose Compendium menu and launched an innovative glass-repair programme.
