House of Cointreau opens to the public for first time
By Georgie CollinsFor the first time in its 175-year history, orange-liqueur brand Cointreau will open the doors to its home in Angers, France, in celebration of Margarita Day on 22 February.

In partnership with online travel company Secret Escapes, Cointreau is inviting cocktail lovers to experience a rare getaway to ‘the home of the Margarita’.
One winner and three guests will enjoy a ‘money-can’t-buy’ three-day hosted experience that will begin in Paris with an immersion into contemporary French cocktail culture.
The group will then travel to the Loire Valley for an exclusive stay at La Richardière – the former Cointreau family home, situated on the Loir River.
“The Margarita is more than a cocktail – it’s a celebration of creativity, connection, and joy,” said Alfred Cointreau, brand heritage manager and sixth-generation member of the Cointreau family.
“With this Ultimate Margarita Getaway, we’re inviting guests to experience the heart of Cointreau, to explore our heritage, and to share in the magic of crafting and enjoying cocktails together. It’s about bringing people together, learning, and creating memories that last long after the glass is empty.”
The 12-bedroom Château de Cointreau boasts historic architecture, expansive grounds, riverside surroundings and a considered approach to hosting.
The stay will include private distillery tours, hands-on Margarita masterclasses, and seasonal French dining with local talent – all curated to be shared together.

The experience seeks to offer a deeper understanding of the craft behind the classic Margarita serve.
Samantha Palmer, head of UK brand partnerships at Secret Escapes, said: “We are experts in curating trips with the ‘wow factor’, unlocking access to outrageously bookable travel deals that you can’t find anywhere else online.
“Partnering with Cointreau allows us to offer exactly that – a rare chance to experience La Richardière through the eyes of the Maison. It’s a celebration of great hospitality, delicious cocktails and joyful company, all in one extraordinary setting.”
The competition is open to contestants over the legal drinking age in their respective country (the UK, Benelux, Spain, Italy, France and Germany) and to contestants where such contests are allowed by law in their respective country.
Details of how to enter can be found at www.mp.secretescapes.com/uk/2026/cointreau/ and on Cointreau’s Instagram: www.instagram.com/cointreau.
The competition is now open and entries will close on 8 March 11:59pm (UTC+1).
The prize stay will take place on 28-29 May 2026.
