Badachro Distillery warms up stills for single malt
By Miona MadsenIndependent Badachro Distillery in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland is poised to become the country’s newest producer of single malt whisky, with production slated to begin in March 2026.

Founded in 2017 by husband and wife duo Gordon and Vanessa Quinn, Badachro Distillery is home to its namesake gin, Dancing Puffin vodka, and Surfing Puffin rum.
For the past eight years, the distillery has bottled sourced whisky under the brand name Bad na h-Achlaise.
Now, almost a decade into its journey, Badachro Distillery is set to start its crafting it own Highland single malt, with production beginning in March.
The distillery will produce single malt Scotch using heritage barleys. It also plans to experiment with Highland barley from the Black Isle, as well as diverse yeasts, including Bavarian strains.
Badachro is expected to produce around 70 casks per year, with approximately 25 to be made available to private investors.
Gordon said: “We’re producing whisky on a craft scale – about 12,000 litres a year – because our focus isn’t volume, it’s flavour, provenance and a genuine Highland spirit that reflects this extraordinary place.”
The distillery is now offering casks of its upcoming whisky, with reservations open for a 20% deposit.
Founders’ casks are priced at £4,500 (US$6,030) for 125-litre first-fill Sherry casks, and £6,000 (US$8,040) for 200-litre first-fill Bourbon casks.
Badachro Distillery employs eight people and has committed to supporting the local community by hiring a local apprentice.
Currently, the distillery exports its spirits to Canada, Taiwan, and Europe, with plans to expand its distribution of Bad na h-Achlaise whisky to Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.
