SB’s 12 Drinks of Christmas – Mother Root

Keeping spirits high and ABVs low – its the third edition of The Spirits Business’ 12 Drinks of Christmas, and today we’re toasting the season with Mother Root – a non-alcoholic wonder that proves festive cheer isn’t always created with booze.

On the third day of SB’s 12 Drinks of Christmas my true love gave to me… a trio of Mother Root bottles

Its been quite a year for this booze-free brand. Female-founded brand Mother Root landed itself some hefty investment on BBC show Dragons’ Den this autumn, which caused sales to soar in the days after the episode aired. The brand also launched a few limited edition flavours, and started plans to lay down roots in the US.

The fiery and fresh Mother Root Ginger – the brand’s original feel-good, non-alcoholic apéritif – delivers warmth, spice, and balance, and is ideal for those looking to moderate without compromising on flavour over the holidays.

It is crafted apple cider vinegar, which founder and CEO Bethan Higson refers to as their version of ‘liquid seasoning’. Thanks to its acidity, the apple cider vinegar magnifies flavour by brightening, balancing and enhancing the ingredients in the brand’s apéritifs.

Versatile in both simple serves (just lengthen with soda or tonic) and more elevated seasonal cocktails, it’s a reminder that low- and no-alcohol options can hold their own amid the Christmas classics.

For those looking for the perfect stocking fillers this Christmas, Mother Root has created a half-size trio set of its signature expression priced at £49.95 (US$67) for three 250ml bottles, so you can fill a few stockings and keep a bottle back for yourself.

The brand has also unveiled a range of accessories, perfect for gifting alongside a bottle, including an apéritif glass (£19.95), a jigger (£19.95), and perhaps the world’s most functional sunshine yellow tote bag (£24.95).

All are available to purchase from the Mother Root website now.
