Isle of Barra production jumps 24% in 2025
By Georgie CollinsOuter Hebridean spirits producer Isle of Barra Distillers saw revenue rise by 13.5% in 2025, driven by a 24% increase in production volumes year on year.

Isle of Barra Distillers was founded in 2017 by husband-and-wife duo Katie and Michael Morrison, who wanted to create a future for their family and generations to come.
The site is Scotland’s most westerly distillery, and produces Barra Gin, Hebridean Vodka and Island Dark Rum from Castlebay on Barra.
Michael Morrison, co-founder and managing director of Isle of Barra Distillers, said: “2025 has been a big year for our small but mighty team as we continue to increase production, expand our offering and double our team from six to 12 full-time members of staff.
“We launched Hebridean Honey Vodka in partnership with local honey producers, Bee Bharraigh, which has garnered strong early traction across retail and online channels. We also unveiled the first chapter of our Tales of the Tide series – a narrative-driven collection inspired by our maritime heritage and Atlantic coastal landscapes.”
He added: “We opened our first Glasgow office to support sales operations, events programming, trade partnerships and logistics – allowing the business to scale whilst keeping distillation on the Isle of Barra.”
Now, Isle of Barra Distillers says it is entering 2026 with ‘ambitious plans’, including further Tales of the Tide releases, plus international expansion of its Hebridean Honey Vodka.
Furthermore, the company will continue to prepare for the opening of its new £12 million (US$16m) distillery at Eoligarry – the largest single private investment ever made on the Scottish island.
The new site, which is slated to open in 2027, will produce Barra’s first single malt Scotch whisky, and will bring major benefits to the island’s economy and community.
Isle of Barra is currently offering an investment opportunity, giving whisky enthusiasts the chance to invest in casks and equity ahead of the new distillery’s opening.
