Imaginarium: The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger hopes to tour in 2026

The exhibition, called Imaginarium: The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger, coincides with the brand’s 25th anniversary, and will run until mid-January 2026.

The immersive Imaginarium exhibition showcases some of the brand’s most iconic whiskies, tracing Compass Box’s journey from vision to reality.

Visitors are invited to step into the ‘fantastical world’ of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger, surrounded by physical and digital objects, each designed to tell the visual story behind individual expressions of Compass Box Scotch Whisky.

The immersive showcase reveals the stories behind several Compass Box creations – from The Entertainer and Brûlée Royale to Stranger & Stranger, Canvas, Rogues’ Banquet, Phenomenology, and the Hedonism series – each described as a testament to the marriage of craft and creativity.

“We invented the word ‘whisky maker’ back in 2000 because we believed that what we were doing went far beyond just blending,” said Angela D’Orazio, creative director of whisky making for Compass Box. “We’ve always believed in creating entire worlds around our whiskies.

“Throughout the years, the team at Stranger & Stranger has surpassed our wildest imaginations to bring these worlds and stories to life through their fantastical label design – blending the beautiful with the surreal, creating showstoppers every time. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to physically invite people inside these worlds for the first time.”

Ivan Wilson-Bell, group CEO and managing director at Stranger & Stranger, added: “Our collaboration with Compass Box has always been built on shared imagination and a deep respect for craft. Together, we’ve created a visual world that brings the story of each whisky to life – every label a distinct piece of art with its own spirit and narrative.

“Seeing that creative journey celebrated through this exhibition feels like a perfect tribute to everything we’ve accomplished together over so many years.”

More than 200 whisky collectors, gallery owners, photographers, designers, artists and art influencers attended the launch night of Imaginarium: The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger at The Wolfsonian-FIU, a restored Art-Deco museum in Miami, which took place during the Art Basel art fair on 3 December.

Compass Box chief marketing officer Racheal Vaughan Jones said: “We were overwhelmed with the response to the private view, especially as this is such a busy time at Miami Art Week – the queue to get in was all the way down the street.

“We wildly surpassed the number of guests we thought would attend and it just shows how strongly Compass Box resonated with the creative crowd during Art Basel.

“The response means that we hope to bring Imaginarium to a city near you soon – watch this space. This exhibition was a way of celebrating the mastery and imagination behind this brand, but most importantly, it has sparked the creative fuse for the next 25 years.”

Compass Box hopes to take the Imaginarium: The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger on tour in 2026.
