Teeling debuts fourth Rising Reserve whiskey

Bacardi-backed Irish whiskey brand Teeling has released the fourth bottling in its Rising Reserve range of 21-year-old single malts.

The Rising Reserve series comprises five releases containing handpicked casks of the ‘oldest and most interesting’ single malts in the Teeling Whiskey reserves.

The latest iteration in the annual range was aged initially in ex-Bourbon barrels for more than 18 years before being finished in ex-white wine casks for a further three years.

This dual maturation and long finishing time in white wine casks is said to impart notes of bright tropical fruits with white chocolate complimented by hints of honey and toasted barley.

Limited to just 6,000 bottles, the single malt is bottled at 46% ABV with no chill filtration.

The latest expression follows the release of the third Rising Reserve whiskey last year, which was aged for 18 years in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished for three years in ex-ruby Port wine casks.

Jack Teeling, founder and managing director of Teeling, said: “The Rising Reserve Series celebrates the storied journey of Irish whiskey, from its rich heritage to its bright future.

“Each release reflects our commitment to crafting whiskeys of exceptional quality and character, and this fourth bottling is no different.

“With 21 years of maturation in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-white wine casks, it delivers a unique Irish single malt whiskey with a distinctive depth of character and flavour, continuing our mission to push the boundaries of what Irish whiskey can be.”

Priced at RRP €225 (US$261) per 700ml, the fourth edition of the Rising Reserve 21 Year Old will be available in Ireland at Teeling’s distillery in Dublin.

It will also be available in international markets such as France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Australia, Singapore and Japan.

The fifth and final instalment in the Rising Reserve line will be launched in 2026.

Earlier this year, The Spirits Business took a tour of Teeling Distillery as it marked its 10th anniversary.

Teeling is part of Bacardi’s portfolio, which also includes brands such as Grey Goose vodka and Dewar’s whisky.
