On Instagram, Gokan said: “It was an incredible party at the 7th anniversary of @theoddcoupleshanghai.

“We have an important announcement: after seven amazing years, TOC will be closing this March as our contract ends.

“But don’t worry – we’ll return next year with a new location and concept.

“There’s still time until March, so if you haven’t dropped by yet, we’d love to welcome you one more time.

“Thank you for being part of our journey!”

The Spirits Business reached out to The SG Group, which operates The Odd Couple.

A spokesperson said: “The Odd Couple is considering relocating, as the current lease will expire in March 2026. We are still in negotiations with the landlord and expect to make a final decision on whether to renew the contract or move to a new location by mid-December.”

The bar opened in 2018.

Gokan was one of The Spirits Business’ global bar luminaries last year. This year’s profiles are now available to read online.
