Motel Mezcal lands in six APAC markets
By Miona MadsenArtisanal brand Motel Mezcal has established exclusive distribution partnerships in six Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets, including China, New Zealand, and Taiwan.

Motel Mezcal is now available in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Macau through Drinks 99. In New Zealand, EuroVintage will handle the distribution of the brand.
Additionally, Spirit Syndicate has launched Motel Mezcal in Malaysia, with Eureka Imports handling distribution in Taiwan.
Crafted in Oaxaca by the maestro mezcalero Daniel López and backed by New Zealand-born entrepreneur Henry Gordon, the brand seeks to combine ancient traditions with modern culture.
López is a third-generation mezcalero whose family has preserved artisanal methods for decades. They cultivate agave, roast it underground on volcanic stones, crush it with a horse-drawn tahona, ferment it in open-air wooden vats, and distil it in copper pots.
The result is Motel Mezcal, with layers of herbaceous agave, ripe banana, pineapple, mild oak, and subtle smoke.
López said: “This mezcal carries the soul of my family. It’s more than a drink – it’s a piece of Oaxaca’s culture, preserved through generations and now shared with Asia Pacific.”
Gordon, co-founder and CEO of Motel Mezcal, plays a key role in connecting Oaxaca with the Asia Pacific.
A celebrated restaurateur from New Zealand, his primary goal is to showcase López’s artistry to a global audience while ensuring that the brand embodies values of sustainability, creativity, and authenticity. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the brand’s bottles are made from 100% recycled glass, and its packaging is made from recycled materials.
Gordon commented: “Working alongside Daniel and his family has been an honour. Motel Mezcal is about preserving generations of Oaxacan tradition while presenting it in a way that resonates globally.
“Across Asia, consumers are increasingly curious, culturally engaged, and eager to explore authentic, premium spirits. We believe Motel Mezcal will connect with this new wave of adventurous drinkers who value both craft and story. This is just the beginning — we’re excited to take the spirit of Oaxaca further across Asia Pacific and beyond, sharing our story and our mezcal with the world.”
The brand states that its launch in the Asia Pacific opens opportunities for future expansion in the near future.
