Monin predicts ‘swicy’ cocktail boom for 2026
By Rupert HohwielerFrench syrup producer Monin has tipped ‘exotic’ flavours and ‘swicy’ drinks among the trends that could shape cocktail choices next spring and summer.

In its Spring/Summer 2026 Drink Trends Report, the brand outlined four trends for the on-trade in 2026: ‘Sip the world’; ‘Fruity-forward freshness’; ‘Indulgent escapes’; and ‘Twists and textures’.
The brand pulled its predictions from visits to nearly 400 venues in the UK, backed by third-party research and studies including CGA’s Mixed Drinks Report 2025 Q1.
The first trend Monin feels will carry weight next year is ‘exotic’ flavours, which transport drinkers across the globe. The brand expects a rise in flavours like lychee, coconut and passionfruit, with Asia a particular destination of interest through ‘matcha mania’ and ube and miso-flavoured drinks.
Additionally on the escapism theme, Monin expects consumers to continue seeking out indulgent flavours. That means flavours like tiramisu and pistachio can be popular, which remind drinkers of childhood memories and tap into nostalgia.
Monin also identified tropical fruit-forward profiles as a trend to watch for spring and summer next year. The brand pointed to data from its 2024 Concept Drinks Survey, which found 63% of consumers like to try ‘new and exciting beverages’.
The brand noted that fruit flavours, especially tropical ones, also pair well with mocktails and low-and-no options as consumers grow more health-conscious. Consumers also opt for iced ‘refresher’ drinks as a way to cool down when the weather heats up.

CGA’s Mixed Drinks Report from the first quarter of 2025 found that 50% of drinkers want to explore unique signature serves when visiting a venue. Monin suggested ‘unusual textures’ such as flavoured cream toppings and cold foam on coffee cocktails, as well as a ‘swicy’ trend that fuses sweet and spicy flavours.
The brand gave its Hot Honey Picante Slushie as an example of a ‘swicy’ cocktail, which combines its Hot Honey Syrup (to be released in 2026) with its Margarita mixer, water, Tequila and coriander.
Jamie Carey, senior marketing manager at Monin UK and Ireland, said: “It’s great to end this year by looking towards the next. With the help of Monin’s latest Spring/Summer 2026 Drink Trends Report, venues can hope to stay ahead of the curve when preparing for warmer seasons.
“We’re committed to sharing our latest insights on industry trends and consumer preferences, while recommending exactly how the hospitality sector can leverage Monin’s extensive portfolio to jump on trends and serve up inspiration.
“From branded chains to independents, we’ve been scouring the UK for the coffee and cocktail trends of tomorrow, and we’re sure that our latest report is the key to keeping customers more connected with their drinkers and offering engaging experiences while in outlet.”
The brand has previously tipped nostalgia and functional benefits for cocktail success.
