Michter’s spotlights the Manhattan
By Georgie CollinsAmerican whiskey brand Michter’s has launched a month-long celebration of the Manhattan in partnership with west London cocktail venues.

First crafted in the late 19th century, the Manhattan is traditionally made with Bourbon or rye whiskey, sweet red vermouth and bitters, garnished with an optional orange peel or Maraschino cherry.
With stirred and spirit-forward drinks said to have found a ‘new lease of life’ among British drinkers in recent years, Michter’s hopes that Manhattan Month will provide the ideal occasion for enthusiasts to explore curated variations of Manhattans across a selection of participating bars in west London.
“The Manhattan is a cocktail with timeless appeal, showcasing the richness and complexity of American whiskey while reminding us why the great classics never go out of style,” said Matt Magliocco, executive vice-president at Michter’s Distillery.
Each venue will offer its own creative twist on the ‘timeless’ serve, inviting guests to discover fresh interpretations of the cocktail.
Newly launched Chelsea venue Il Bistrotto will present two drinks for the duration of the month: a Manhattan crafted with Michter’s Straight Rye, Chazalettes Vermouth di Torino Rosso, Maraska Maraschino; and a Boulevardier, made with Michter’s Straight Rye, Il Bistrotto sweet red vermouth and Il Bistrotto bitter blend.
Meanwhile, Amaro Bar has added its own twist on the classic Manhattan using Michter’s Bourbon, porcini mushroom distillate, homemade porcini mushroom wine, sweet vermouth, chestnut liqueur, and Angostura bitters. The serve will be available for a week from 12 to 18 November.
Additionally, from 12 to 18 November, residents and visitors to High Street Kensington will have the opportunity to sample the Michter’s portfolio at Whole Foods.
Michter’s 2024 Legacy series landed in the UK last October.
