Maurice Doyle joins Cotswolds Distillery
By Nicola CarruthersFormer Compass Box CEO Maurice Doyle has joined Cotswolds Distillery as non-executive chairman of its board of directors.

Doyle brings a wealth of experience to England’s largest whisky producer, including two decades at Bacardi and five years at William Grant & Sons.
Most recently, he was the CEO of Scotch whisky blender Compass Box.
Doyle has taken over the chairman position from Daniel Szor, founder of Cotswolds Distillery.
Szor, who will remain ‘fully engaged’ in Cotswolds Distillery, said: “As the company continues to grow, strong board leadership is essential, and I can’t think of anyone better suited than Maurice.
“He combines deep industry knowledge with a genuine talent for bringing people together. We have great confidence in him and, while his role is non-executive, he will be keenly involved in how we work together, bringing warmth, humanity and insight to our team.”
Doyle left Compass Box in February 2025 after three years at the company. He was succeeded by Nishat Gupte, founding CEO of Blake Lively’s Betty Buzz and Betty Booze brands.
Cotswolds Distillery is a member of the English Whisky Guild, which is nearing finalisation of a geographical indication for the category.
British wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros & Rudd purchased a minority stake in the distillery in 2023.
