“Thank you, Romania, for joining Mezcal Koch on this path. We are guardians,” said Thalia Frigos, director of exports and brand development at Koch Mezcal.

The brand first entered the European market more than a decade ago, with the Romanian launch strengthening its presence on the continent. The move is part of a broader European growth strategy and follows recent launches in the Baltics and Poland.

Simba Invest CEO Mircea Mandrila added: “Romania’s cocktail culture is evolving fast, and Simba is proud to be part of that transformation.

“We welcome Koch into our portfolio of over 80 premium brands at a time when agave spirits are gaining global attention and local curiosity. As mezcal emerges as one of the most dynamic categories worldwide, this partnership marks an exciting opportunity for growth and shared success.”

Koch Mezcal is produced in Oaxaca, Mexico, using traditional methods of agave harvesting, roasting, fermentation and distillation.

Jan Bernd Koster, partner at Brand Venture, which facilitated the partnership, said: “We are delighted to bring Koch Mezcal to the Romanian market alongside Simba Invest. Romania offers a vibrant and sophisticated audience, increasingly curious about agave-based spirits and authentic craftsmanship.

“This launch marks both a celebration of Koch’s heritage and a commitment to grow the mezcal category in Eastern Europe.”
