Diistil creates gin for Strand Palace

London’s Strand Palace will now offer a bespoke London Dry Gin inspired by the hotel’s century-long heritage and created by on-demand spirits platform Diistil.

The gin is said to reflect the hotel’s ‘rich history and distinctive London character’.

To create the expression, Diistil explored three concepts reflecting different flavour profiles and aspects of Strand Palace’s history.

The London Dry Gin’s botanicals include juniper, coriander seed, yuzu, Earl Grey, black cardamom, pink peppercorn, orris root, angelica root and liquorice root. Each botanical was chosen to reflect the hotel’s story, from Covent Garden’s market heritage to its art deco legacy.

Jocky Chazhoor, director of food and beverage at Strand Palace, said: “The London Dry Gin Diistil developed with us tells the story of Strand Palace in a bottle. It was crafted to reflect the heritage and location of the hotel, and has become a signature touchpoint for guests.

“We wanted something truly ours. Diistil delivered with creativity, care, and a real understanding of what makes a hotel spirit special.”

The gin features on all of the hotel’s bar menus. Cocktails include the Signature G&T, which combines the gin with Franklin & Sons Grapefruit and Bergamot Tonic, served with pink grapefruit and cardamom.

The 1909 Cocktail is named after the hotel’s opening year and features fresh berries and citrus.

Diistil’s founder and CEO Raj Batra added: “The Strand Palace collaboration is a perfect example of how flavour and storytelling can come together to honour a venue’s history. Working with the team to translate over a century of London hospitality into a contemporary gin has been a real privilege. It is a project that reflects the spirit of partnership at the heart of everything we do.”

Diistil has also created a gin for the Middle Eight hotel in London.
