Desolas unveils reposado mezcal
By Miona MadsenFemale-founded Desolas Mezcal has expanded its range with an aged reposado expression made with Salmiana agave.

The launch of Desolas Reposado, ‘the first aged mezcal of its kind’, is said to mark a significant milestone in the brand’s journey to break new ground in the premium spirits market.
Sammy Halpern, chief strategy officer at Desolas, said: “We’ve spent the last three years experimenting with how ageing could elevate our beautiful Salmiana agave mezcal. Desolas Reposado isn’t just an aged mezcal – it’s the first of its kind. Nothing in the category tastes like this.”
Established by GG Mirvis and crafted in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Desolas Mezcal boasts an agave-forward low-smoke profile.
The new aged expression is created from 100% Salmiana agave, cooked in above-ground hornos, and matured for approximately six months in 200-litre ex-Bourbon barrels at an elevation of around 4,000 feet.
Made in small seasonal batches, the reposado is said to add a new dimension to the signature botanical and citrus-forward character of Desolas Blanco.
The new release aims to reaffirm Desolas’ mission to create an elegant, expressive mezcal that invites drinkers to explore the depth and diversity of Mexican agave beyond just smoke.
Mirvis, founder and CEO of Desolas Mezcal, commented on the ‘elevated’ design: “For the reposado, we stepped away from the botanical green of the blanco bottle. The green embodies freshness and the raw spirit of the Salmiana agave mezcal, while resting in oak transforms Desolas Mezcal into something deeper and layered.
“To honour that transformation, we once again collaborated with the talented Mexican artist behind the original bottle design. Together, we created distinct black-and-white ceramic bottles that reflect the beauty of the aged mezcal and honour its simplicity.”
Offered at 48% ABV, Desolas Reposado is available through the brand’s distribution network and online store, with a suggested retail price of US$109.99.
At The Luxury Spirits Masters 2025, the new expression was recognised with a Master medal.
