Contraluz ventures beyond mezcal
By Miona MadsenCasa Lumbre’s Contraluz Mezcal has moved into Tequila with the launch of a cristalino, which makes its European debut in Italy this autumn.

Contraluz Cristalino Tequila joins the brand’s existing lineup, which includes Mezcal Cristalino and 11:11 Mezcal.
The cristalino Tequila will be distributed in Europe by Stockholm-based distributor AliasSmith.
After its launch in Italy this year, the Tequila will be available in early 2026 in Spain and other major European markets.
Supported by a global partnership with artist Maluma, Contraluz is said to represent a new chapter in agave spirits, combining Mexican heritage with ‘modern culture and creative expression’.
Contraluz Cristalino Tequila is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave, aged in American oak barrels, and bottled without additives.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the reposado cristalino undergoes a filtration process to remove colour and offers notes of honey, vanilla, and toasted oak on the palate.
Earlier this year, AliasSmith partnered with brands such as Raicilla Perra Suerte and launched the ‘world’s first’ Tequila in a fully recyclable paper bottle, Buen Vato, in the Swedish market.
