Anchored in adventure: Cutty Sark 17 Years Old

The legendary blended Scotch brand is embarking on a new adventure with the launch of Cutty Sark 17 Years Old – a triple-cask-matured expression that invites whisky lovers to explore uncharted depths of flavour.

Crafted for the curious whisky fan, Cutty Sark 17 Years Old is an opulent blend of aged Highland and Speyside single malts, married for 17 months in hand-selected Sherry and Port casks, before being united with grain whisky matured in first-fill Bourbon casks.

The result is a sumptuous, layered whisky (42.3% ABV) that balances Cutty Sark’s trademark smoothness with waves of fruit, spice and oak.

On the nose, aromas of candied orange peel, red cherries, and plums mingle with hints of chocolate and gentle spice. The palate reveals an indulgent, mouth-coating texture, with oaky notes, undertones of cappuccino and cocoa, and a long, lingering finish where spices ebb into whispers of malt and wood.

“Cutty Sark has always been a whisky for those seeking adventure,” says master blender Stephen Woodcock. “With the 17-year-old, we wanted to take that journey further – creating a blend that’s bold, fruity and spicy, with real depth. It’s an ocean of complexity, just waiting to be explored.”

Encased in a striking black gift box with gold accents and a flash of Cutty Sark’s signature yellow, the presentation evokes maritime luxury — a nod to the whisky’s namesake, the 19th-century tea clipper.

A rope and eyelet detail hints at the brand’s nautical heritage, while the sleek black bottle, topped with a rope-effect stopper, makes a statement of sophistication for both collectors and connoisseurs.

As international senior brand manager Manon Brochet explains: “Cutty Sark 17 Years Old is born from our pioneering spirit – a whisky that captures our history and craftsmanship in every drop. It’s the perfect gift for those who see life as an adventure.”

Launching globally from October 2025, Cutty Sark 17 Years Old joins the brand’s core range. With a recommended price of £85-£90, it offers entry into the world of premium aged Scotch.
