EBH Holdings acquires Mahiki

Leisure and entertainment company EBH Holdings has acquired nightclub and spirits brand Mahiki, with plans for an international relaunch.

Mahiki opened as a nightclub in 2006 in London’s Mayfair, however the venue closed in 2021. At the time, the company said it was seeking a new location.

The nightclub was known for its high-profile guests, which included ‘global stars, royals and tastemakers’.

EBH Holdings claims that despite the appearances of success, behind the scenes the brand suffered ‘years of global uncertainty, hospitality sector instability and a series of ownership changes that ultimately led to financial management challenges, operational decline and insolvency’.

Mahiki Limited was placed in creditors’ voluntary liquidation in April 2022.

The brand announced in July 2024 that it was pivoting from nightclubs to products and pop-ups following new ownership. This included the launch of a spirits range with a white spiced rum and a pineapple and coconut liqueur.

EBH Holdings has now conducted an ‘extensive and deeply forensic’ period of due diligence, resulting in its acquisition of the brand.

It aims to ‘transform’ the business through leadership and structural reform, confronting significant legacy issues, unresolved creditor positions, complex contractual entanglements, and the erosion of brand value.

In the coming weeks, EBH Holdings will implement a recovery and redevelopment plan. It aims to restore Mahiki to ‘its rightful position as a world-class lifestyle brand’.

The relaunch will re-establish the brand in key international destinations.

EBH Holdings’ Sylvester Iquaibom said: “Mahiki’s story is one of creativity, joy and cultural resonance, but one that we believe has not reached its true potential, having endured the hardships and changes in the leisure hospitality industry over past decades.

“Our due diligence made clear just how much the brand and business needed resuscitation. We are committed to restoring credibility and reimagining Mahiki for a new era – one grounded in integrity, partnership, and innovation.”
