The crowdfunding campaign on FrontFundr launched on 15 October and has secured nearly CA$490,000 (US$350,161) to date.

The funds will help drive the brand’s next growth stage, including expanding the team and infrastructure. It will also be put towards marketing and working capital to expand brand awareness and inventory, supply chain investment and digital infrastructure.

The company is aiming to position Valley of Mother of God as the leading luxury Canadian gin brand in its home market over the next year.

Valley of Mother of God is the biggest-selling Ontarian super-premium gin brand across Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) stores. The brand’s Maplewood Smoked Gin soared by 350% in volume growth for the year ending 1 September 2025, based on LCBO data.

In Ontario, the brand is available in more than 260 locations, with a full Canadian launch planned for this month.

Malcolm Roberts and Shelly Perry, who are behind Foxglove Spirits, launched the brand in 2020.

“Canada is admired globally for its beauty, but not often for its ambition,” said Roberts. “My partner Shelly and I started Valley of Mother of God Gin to change that – to show that a small Canadian luxury gin brand can compete with the world’s best.

“The response has been humbling – our crowdfunding campaign passed 60% in its first week, and that early support tells us we’re onto something meaningful.”

Asia expansion on the cards

Over the next two years, the brand plans to expand into Asia, including the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore. The company entered its first Asian market this week, launching in Tokyo, Japan.

It is also targeting expansion into the US and Abu Dhabi for spring 2026.

The company plans to tap into the ‘strong’ gin market in the US, with super-premium gin predicted to increase by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.6% between 2023 and 2028, according to IWSR data.

From 2028 to 2030, the business hopes to position the brand for potential acquisition opportunities from a major global spirits player or private equity group.

Valley of Mother of God features 20 botanicals, including Ottawa Valley juniper, black walnuts from Ontario, Nova Scotia cranberries, McIntosh apples, Labrador tea and Muskoka black trumpet mushroom.

“When we started this journey, it was with a simple but ambitious idea: to share the true spirit of Canada with the world,” the founders said in a statement on the crowdfunding page. “What began on our farm has grown into an award-winning luxury gin brand, embraced by bartenders, consumers, and investors who see the potential of something genuinely new.

“We’ve proven what’s possible here at home – now it’s time to take that vision further. We invite you to join us in this next chapter, as partners in building a legacy that celebrates Canadian craftsmanship, creativity, and pride on the global stage. Together, we can make history.”
