Koch Mezcal bets on the Baltics
By Miona MadsenBrand Venture has expanded the distribution of the artisanal Oaxacan mezcal brand Koch through new partnerships in the Baltics and Poland.

Although mezcal can be considered a relatively new agave spirit in the Baltics and Poland, Koch aims to share its ‘authenticity, culture, and craftsmanship’ with new audiences through its new partnerships.
According to Thalia Friligos, director of exports and brand development at Koch Mezcal, the expansion into new markets goes beyond partnerships.
“It’s not just about expanding into new markets – it’s about forging partnerships with allies who understand that mezcal is a bond,” Friligos explained. “A bond that ties us to the land, to people, and to meaningful moments. When that understanding is shared, business transforms into an adventure – one that allows us to connect with rich and diverse cultures through Koch El Mezcal.”
In Poland, the brand will be represented by United Beverages Group and Dom Whisky, while in the Baltic region, it will be launched by MV Group Distribution, starting from Lithuania.
Sebastian Kopeć, marketing manager at United Beverages, explained the potential for the brand in Poland: “Poland as a market presents outstanding performance in qualitative on-trade. United Beverages Group and Dom Whisky are providing a world-class portfolio of spirits.
“Mezcal is a promising category in our emerging market. Brands such as Koch, with an exceptional portfolio, are a complementary addition to United Beverages Group. We believe that with the support of the Global Team, we will accelerate both Koch and mezcal culture in Poland.”
Marijus Cilcius, CEO of MV Group Distribution, said: “We are pleased to begin our collaboration with Koch Mezcal, with Lithuania as the first market to launch its distribution in the Baltics. With our long-standing experience in developing brands and deep knowledge of the local market, we see this partnership as an opportunity to grow together.
“At MV Group Distribution, we believe in building strong, sustainable relationships, and we are excited to support Koch Mezcal as it takes its first steps into the Baltics.”
Jan Bernd Koster, partner at Brand Venture, added: “We are glad to have found such strong partners with outstanding portfolios for Koch Mezcal – definitely our superstar brand when it comes to mezcal.”
Last month, Brand Venture launched Koch Elemental in 100 retail stores throughout Sweden, marking the first time mezcal has been available on the shelf in the Swedish off-trade.
