EH Taylor Bottled in Bond joins Antique Collection

Sazerac-owned Buffalo Trace Distillery is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Antique Collection with a new addition to the series: EH Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon.

The Antique Collection pays tribute to historic whiskey brands

The Colonel EH Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon is the first new expression added to the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection in almost two decades.

The Antique Collection, first introduced in 2000, pays tribute to the historic whiskey brands of Buffalo Trace Distillery and the visionaries behind them.

EH Taylor permanently joins the collection’s five staple expressions: Eagle Rare 17-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, George T Stagg Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Thomas H Handy Sazerac Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, Sazerac 18-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, and William Larue Weller Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

According to Buffalo Trace, Colonel EH Taylor is considered the ‘father of modern Bourbon’. After acquiring the OFC Distillery (which has been called the Buffalo Trace Distillery since 1999) in 1869, Taylor modernised operations by introducing innovations such as advanced grain handling equipment, copper fermentation tanks, and a pioneering steam heating system that is still in use in the distillery’s barrel warehouses today.

Colonel Taylor also played a ‘crucial’ role in the movement that led to the passage of the Bottled-in-Bond Act in 1897.

The new expression is aged for 15 years and four months in the distillery’s warehouses in Frankfort, Kentucky. Bottled at 50% ABV, the whiskey presents aromas of vanilla, seasoned oak, charred undertones, and a hint of maple sweetness. On the palate, sweetness and baking spices blend with wood notes, complemented by oak, vanilla, caramel, and cherry on the finish.

Andrew Duncan, global brand director of Buffalo Trace Distillery, said: “Colonel Taylor’s signature graced every bottle produced under his watch as a testament to its quality, a tradition we uphold today as a promise of integrity. Created in his honour, every sip of EH Taylor Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon offers more than exceptional flavour – it’s a taste of history and a reminder of his strict tenets that have safeguarded America’s world-leading whiskey quality standards for nearly 150 years.”

Each Antique Collection bottle is accompanied by a letter detailing the whiskey’s production and ageing journey.

The limited edition bottles for autumn 2025 are sold individually and available nationwide in the US for a suggested retail price of US$149.99.

A limited supply will also be available for purchase through Legacy de Forge, a new global platform powered by Blockbar.

Last year, the Antique Collection celebrated the 25th anniversary of William Larue Weller Bourbon.

Earlier this year, Buffalo Trace launched two new Weller releases: Weller Millennium Second Edition and WL Weller 18 Years Old, the brand’s oldest age statement to date.
