Drinks by the Dram unveils £10k advent calendar
Atom Brands-owned Drinks by the Dram has revealed a whisky advent calendar that boasts a lineup so rare ‘even seasoned collectors would find hard to assemble’.
The Very Old & Rare Whisky Collection advent calendar includes some whiskies that are said to be impossible to acquire, even at auction.
As such, it has been designed with collectors and serious enthusiasts in mind, and features drams from world-renowned producers including Karuizawa, Port Ellen, The Macallan, Highland Park, and Yamazaki.
“We have gathered whiskies so rare the warehouse cat has never seen them,” said Dr Sam Simmons. “We had a lot of fun curating this cabinet, which is in itself a time capsule and a tribute to whisky’s story.
“Highlights include a 40-year-old Balvenie; liquid gems from lost distilleries including Port Ellen and Karuizawa; and ancient examples of Macallan, Glenglassaugh, Bowmore, Auchentoshan, and Glenrothes. It is a once-in-a-lifetime tasting journey that will make this Christmas one to remember.”
Among the 24 drams are exceptional expressions including Glenfarclas 1958 cask 2061 – of which just 130 bottles were ever released – Karuizawa Five Decades, Glenfarclas 60 Year Old, and the legendary Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2012.
Other stand-out drams include Auchentoshan 44 Year Old, Bowmore 43 Year Old, Glenglassaugh 41 Year Old (cask 1227-1), Ladyburn 40 Year Old (cask 74), The Macallan 30 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company), Port Ellen 32 Year Old (15th Release) and Port Ellen 37 Year Old (17th Release), and Talisker Bodega Series 40 Year Old.
Each 30ml sample has been individually wax-sealed by hand and is presented in a cabinet finished with black oak, inlaid with a tree-ring motif. It also features walnut shelving, engraved stainless steel detailing, a leather carry handle, and a moleskin dust cover.
The Very Old & Rare Whisky Collection is available from Master of Malt, priced at £9,995 (US$13,209).
It forms part of Drinks by the Dram’s 2025 advent portfolio, which also includes the Old & Rare Advent Calendar (RRP £799.95/US$1,065) featuring drams from Caperdonich, Dalmore, and Clynelish, and the Premium Whisky Advent Calendar (£199.95/US$266) offering top-shelf whiskies from leading distilleries.
The broader collection spans spiced rum, gin, and world whisky, with prices starting from £49.95 (US$66.50).
