Desi Daru becomes B Corp
By Miona MadsenBritish-Indian vodka brand Desi Daru has received B Corporation certification from B Lab, a global nonprofit that recognises socially and sustainably driven businesses.

The achievement shows that Desi Daru adheres to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, while also committing to goals that extend beyond shareholder value.
It joins a growing community of more than 10,000 businesses worldwide that have received B Corp certification.
Mohit Singh, founder of Desi Daru, shared: “Becoming a B Corp is a milestone that reflects Desi Daru’s philosophy: to create a world-class product while respecting people and the planet. Certification is not the finish line, but part of our ongoing journey to prove that premium spirits can be crafted in a way that’s responsible, transparent, and sustainable.”
The B Corp assessment highlights Desi Daru’s practices in four key areas: community, environment, workers, and governance. The brand actively engages in initiatives like the ‘One Sip, One Day’ campaign, which supports clean drinking water in India with every bottle sold.
Desi Daru’s commitment to inclusion and employee well-being has resulted in a high score in the workers’ category. The brand’s governance score indicates transparent and accountable operations.
Moving forward, Desi Daru aims to reduce its carbon impact by increasing the use of renewable energy.
The London-based company also plans to enhance its community involvement by partnering with local agricultural initiatives and improving its B Impact score through continued investment in its social and environmental mission.
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, shared: “We are delighted to welcome Desi Daru Vodka to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good.
“We know that Desi Daru is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
In the UK, the B Corp community is reportedly the largest and fastest-growing in the world, comprising more than 2,500 companies from diverse industries and varying sizes.
B Corp Certification evaluates a business’ overall operations and assesses its impact in several key areas, including governance, workers, community, the environment, and customers.
The certification process requires companies to meet specific criteria and provide evidence of their performance. Additionally, it legally integrates their commitment to both purpose and profit into their company articles.
