Amazónico opens in Miami

Latin American-inspired restaurant, bar and lounge Amazónico has opened in Miami, marking its debut in the US.

Amazónico was founded by husband-and-wife duo Sandro Silva and Marta Seco, with the first venue opening in Madrid in 2016. Sites in London, Dubai and Monte Carlo have since followed.

The Amazónico concept celebrates the cultural diversity and gastronomic heritage of the Amazon region, which stems from Silva’s early childhood in Brazil.

Silver and Seco called Miami the “natural next step”.

“We’ve always felt like Amazónico was made for this city. The cultural energy, the people, the rhythm of life, all align perfectly with what we’ve built,” they said.

The new Amazónico outpost is located on Brickell Ave, Miami, and is centred around a blend of cuisine, music and design influenced by 1930s Brazil. It spans across three floors, with a design led by Lázaro Rosa Violán, who is behind the interiors at all other Amazónico branches.

Violán drew from Latin American modernism with floating forms, curved lines and open-air layouts found through the space, which is said to help it flow between interior and exterior.

Guests can also expect Amazónico’s signature deep greens, volcanic stone, dark tropical woods and woven textures for the decor.

The space is laid out across three floors with  capacity for nearly 400 people. As guests go up the floors, the energy is said to intensify.

Amazónico Miami begins with the restaurant on the ground floor, featuring a stage for nightly live music and an open-kitchen. It’s divided between indoor and open-air spaces.

Up a floor lies the bar and lounge. From here guests can enjoy Amazon-inspired cocktails made with exotic ingredients and rare spirits, such as the Amazonegroni, a spicy Palomito, and the Peacock Spritz, which is served in a ‘whimsical’ signature peacock glass. The area is backed by resident DJs and will also house a sushi counter for intimate dining experiences.

Lastly, in what Amazónico calls the ‘standout feature’, the third floor is home to a rooftop where guests can take in views of the Miami skyline.

The rooftop is described as offering a more ‘seductive’ take on the rainforest experience, with a canopy and Amazónico’s full cocktail menu available.

Additionally, later on in the year, Amazónico will unveil a ‘new nightlife destination’ on the third floor called Selva.

Selva will be inspired by the late-night space found at the Monte Carlo site and will be designed as a luxurious hideaway with jungle-inspired interiors.
