Zamora Company, the owner of brands such as Licor 43, Martin Miller’s Gin, and Zoco Pacharán, has made a ‘significant’ advancement in its commitment to environmental issues, social responsibility, and responsible purchasing.
The company earned a Silver Medal in the EcoVadis 2025 assessment, scoring 70 out of 100 and representing a 17-point improvement from last year.
Marisa Almazán, conscious company manager at Zamora, said: “Obtaining the Silver Medal consolidates and reinforces our commitment and reputation as a responsible company and evaluates our sustainability management model, which is the result of the constant and dedicated work of all our teams to care for the planet, reinforce our values and improve every day as a responsible and conscious company.”
EcoVadis assesses more than 150,000 companies globally each year in four main areas: environmental impact, labour and human rights, business ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Zamora’s Silver rating places the company in the top 15% globally.
To earn its place at the top, Zamora Company has shown a strong commitment to sustainability by implementing various initiatives within its purchasing practices related to the supply chain.
The company requires its suppliers to furnish a significantly higher level of information, accountability, and certification. This commitment is detailed in the 2024 Conscious Company report recently released by Zamora.
In recent years, the company has also expanded its supplier network, reaching 1,500 partners by 2024.
Miguel Ángel del Cano, global purchasing director at Zamora Company, said: “Zamora Company’s purchasing strategy is based on three lines of action: purchasing and contracting with sustainability criteria, ESG [environmental, social and governance] assessment and considering suppliers as strategic business partners.”
The company’s sustainable procurement model identifies and monitors environmental and social risks, focusing on three key supplier types: packaging, raw materials, and advertising materials, as Del Cano explained: “Beyond the contractual relationship, at Zamora Company we consider our suppliers to be essential partners for business development and the achievement of sustainable objectives.”
This year, Zamora is creating a centralised supplier approval and evaluation system using a common platform for the entire company called Itbid.
The group is also committed to following the FIAB (Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries) code of good commercial practices in food contracting.
