Meikle Tòir Turbo returns
By Miona MadsenIndependent whisky distillery The GlenAllachie has launched the third heavily peated Turbo edition under its Meikle Tòir label.

The small-batch release highlights Meikle Tòir’s smokier side, increasing the normal peat content from 35ppm (parts per million) to 72ppm for Turbo.
Made from Scottish mainland peat sourced from St Fergus, the expression was matured in virgin oak casks and Oloroso Sherry hogsheads for five years.
The 2025 edition offers aromas of manuka honey, toasted caramel and smoked cedarwood, leading to flavours of heather honey, roasted hazelnuts, mocha, ‘smouldering’ oak, dark chocolate, and plum jam.
Walker commented on the release: “Meikle Tòir has been met with incredible enthusiasm, with every Turbo release to date selling out at remarkable speed. What sets Turbo apart is the way we push peat to its maximum while still allowing the spirit’s signature heather honey character to shine through.
“This balance of boldness and finesse makes Turbo truly special. It’s an exceptionally limited release, and for those lucky enough to secure a bottle, it represents a rare chance to experience our peated whisky at full force.”
Turbo’s latest iteration, offered at 50% ABV, is available from The GlenAllachie Distillery and online shop for £55.99 (US$75), with global distribution starting in the coming weeks.
The GlenAllachie Distillery began producing peated whisky in 2017 and spends around six weeks each year distilling peated whiskies under the guidance of master distiller Billy Walker, yielding close to 100,000 litres of alcohol annually. This counts for one tenth of the distillery’s annual capacity.
The result is Meikle Tòir, shaped by the distillery’s production methods, which include a 160-hour fermentation process. All core range bottlings have a five-year age statement, are non-chill filtered, and contain no added colouring.
Earlier this year, The GlenAllachie released the first single cask bottlings of Meikle Tòir.
