Glendronach debuts 30YO and 40YO whiskies
By Miona MadsenBrown-Forman-owned The Glendronach has unveiled two new limited-edition annual whiskies: a 30-year-old and a 40-year-old.

The two new additions to the distillery’s ultra-premium range follow the relaunch of The Glendronach 21-year-old earlier this year.
Highlighting the distillery’s tradition of maturing whiskies in Spanish Sherry casks, the collection continues the revamp of Glendronach’s full range, first introduced for core expressions in July 2024.
Created by master blender Rachel Barrie, the 30-year-old is aged in three distinct Sherry casks: Pedro Ximénez, oloroso, and, for the first time, amontillado.
Barrie commented on the creative process: “With the 30-year-old, we have composed a symphony from our most historic Sherry cask styles. Three decades of maturation have resulted in a
sublime and charming single malt, with generous layers of rich and complex character. It is the ultimate expression of our dedication to the art of Sherry cask maturation.”
The expression displays aromas of morello cherry, raisin, spiced Brazil nut toffee, marzipan, and medjool date caramel, followed on the palate by notes of glazed cherry, sultana cake, cinnamon raisin-nut toffee, and chocolate hazelnut café crème.
Offered at 46.8% ABV, the whisky is presented in a case crafted from stained Walnut Curl Veneer, engraved with 30 facets. The expression has a recommended retail price of £1,000 (US$1,345).
The Glendronach 40-Year-Old 2025 Edition was crafted from a select few hand-picked casks from 1978, 1983, and 1984. These casks were blended and matured for more than four decades in Spanish oak oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Barrie said: “I am honoured to share this exceptionally distinctive single malt. At 40 years old, it represents four decades of Sherry cask refinement, polished by time to become the ultimate expression of The Glendronach. It is a privilege to be the custodian of such remarkable casks.”
The Glendronach 40-year-old displays aromas of black cherry, stewed plum and blackberry, sherry-soaked chocolate gateau, and café. The palate offers notes of blackcurrant and bramble compote, prune, raisin wine, and cinnamon-laced chocolate espresso.
Limited to only 300 bottles worldwide, the whisky is housed in a presentation box crafted from dark-stained rosewood, featuring brass handles and a golden plinth.
The single malt is bottled at natural cask strength of 43.9% ABV and has an RRP of £5,000 (US$6,715).
The Glendronach 30-year-old and 40-year-old single malts are available in select global markets from today (9 September), including the UK at Selfridges.
Last month, the distillery partnered with Emmy-nominated composer Rob Lewis to create a music track from the sounds made during the whisky-making process.
