Gordon’s Spritz Edition has launched with two flavours: Strawberry & Passionfruit and Lime & Elderflower.

Emma Taylor, head of innovation commercialisation – Diageo GB, said: “We experimented with dozens of different flavour combinations and recipes before landing on our two exciting variants – Strawberry & Passionfruit and Lime & Elderflower.

“Gordon’s Spritz Edition is about giving people an opportunity to elevate their ordinary catchups without any of the barriers traditionally associated with cocktail-making making those bubbly moments that little bit more special.”

To create the ‘perfect serve’, Diageo recommends drinkers pour 100ml of Prosecco into a flute glass with 50ml of Gordon’s Spritz Edition.

Citing CGA’s Mixed Drinks Report Q3 2023, Diageo noted demand for the Spritz is surging and more people are consuming cocktails at home, but the effort it takes to make them still creates a barrier.

Tayara Sousa Linke, global head of marketing at Gordon’s, said: “The increasing popularity of Spritz cocktails has led to more people wanting to experiment with their Prosecco, which is why we made Gordon’s Spritz Edition a simple two-step process – making it easy to elevate any bubbly celebration.

“This product delivers on our promise of quality, flavour and simplicity to create a vibrant and fun experience perfect for any get together.”

Both Gordon’s Spritz Edition flavours have an ABV of 14.7% and retail for £14 (US$19) per 500ml bottle.

They can be found at Morrisons supermarket stores in the UK, with wider availability on Amazon, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda to come in the next few weeks. They will also be available across the on-trade in Great Britain next year, with a global roll out to follow.

The London Dry Gin brand also released a lemon meringue flavour this month, which Diageo’s marketing director Charlotte Gibbon said on LinkedIn “took inspiration from some nostalgic flavours that are synonymous with Britain”.

Meanwhile, in other news from Diageo, Gordon’s parent company, the firm paused whiskey production at its Balcones and George Dickel distilleries this week.
