Zarpado infuses Tequila with ‘world’s hottest pepper’
Boston-based Latitude Beverage Co has released a Zarpado Tequila infused with Carolina Reaper and Habanero peppers.

According to the brand, Zarpado Reaper is the first Tequila on the market to be infused with Carolina Reaper, which is known as ‘the world’s second hottest pepper’.
Described as being hundreds of times hotter than a jalapeño, the Carolina Reaper pepper can reach 2.2 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), only second to Pepper X.
The spicy blanco Tequila is made in Jalisco, Mexico, with 100% Blue agave that’s slow-cooked and double distilled, providing a textured and agave-forward profile.
The addition of the peppers is said to add a fiery spice to the expression, while also bringing forward fruity and tropical flavours from the Carolina Reaper and floral notes from the Habanero.
Terry Lozoff, vice president and spirits director at Latitude Beverage, said: “Spicy cocktails and spirits continue to gain popularity, and we’re excited to launch this truly unique spicy Tequila.
“You’re going to taste the heat, of course, but Carolina Reaper peppers also have flavour notes that work really well with Zarpado’s profile. The spice is balanced, and doesn’t get in the way of the great flavour of this Tequila.
“It’s the perfect spirit for spice lovers and an ideal addition to your favourite spicy cocktail.”
Tequila Zarpado Reaper has notes of tropical fruits such as pineapple and papaya, combined with a hint of smokiness – and a fiery, mouth-coating heat.
Available in most US states and multiple markets nationwide, it has a suggested retail price of US$28.99 for a 750ml bottle.
