Old Dominick unveils 8YO whiskey
By Miona MadsenFamily-owned Tennessee distillery Old Dominick has released an eight-year-old Reserve Bourbon.

Aged for eight years in new American oak barrels, Old Dominick Reserve straight Bourbon is bottled at 50% ABV.
The Bourbon is made using the same mash bill as the distillery’s Tennessee whiskey and undergoes a charcoal mellowing process known as the Lincoln County Process.
The decision to label the eight-year Reserve as a Bourbon instead of a Tennessee whiskey was based on the spirit’s flavour profile rather than its recipe, highlighting notes of honey, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate.
David Valentine, head distiller of Old Dominick, said: “We have been setting aside select barrels with the intent to ultimately bottle and serve a masterfully blended Bourbon. If someone is looking for a sweet finish with honey and caramel tones, this is the bottle for them.”
The Old Dominick Distillery was revived by the Canale family in 2017, using a recipe from the 1800s. The new release marks a milestone for Old Dominick, as it is as old as the distillery itself.
The new expression will be available at the distillery’s tasting room in Memphis and select retailers in Tennessee and southeastern US from Friday 5 September, retailing for US$59.99.
To celebrate the launch, Old Dominick will host a special release week at the distillery located at 305 S Front Street in Memphis from 5-12 September. The event will feature guided tours and tastings, speciality cocktails, and a behind-the-scenes experience.
Earlier this year, the distillery added a seven-year-old single barrel wheat whiskey to its portfolio and unveiled a new look and recipe for its vodka.
