Edinburgh Gin opens roof terrace bar

Ian Macleod Distillers-owned Edinburgh Gin has added a roof terrace bar to its distillery in the Scottish capital.

Edinburgh
The bar terrace will open from midday until 10pm daily

The brand opened the doors to its distillery in December 2024. The site is powered by 100% renewable electricity and features floor-to-ceiling windows, a shop, a garden bar and two 2,000-litre bespoke copper stills.

The roof terrace will offer canned cocktails made with Edinburgh Gin alongside panoramic views of the city. In addition, the space will run a promotion offering a complimentary bamboo fan with every can purchase.

The terrace launch coincides with the Edinburgh Fringe, the busiest period of the year for the city.

Sarah Prior, head of sales and marketing, said: “We’re thrilled to unveil our new roof terrace bar just in time for Fringe.

“It’s a beautiful space that celebrates Edinburgh from every angle, offering unmatched views of the skyline and a chance to enjoy our gins distilled just beneath your feet, all while embracing the city’s rich botanical legacy.”

The distillery’s roof garden bar is located next door to the new terrace. This bar offers a more comprehensive menu of G&Ts and Spritzes in a botanical-inspired setting. Other serves include the Rhubarb Frosé and the Rooftop Iced Tea.

The garden bar is also the only place to try and buy the distillery-exclusive Rooftop Garden Gin, created using 16 botanicals grown on-site.

As well as the new state-of-the-art distillery, the brand launched its first boutique in travel retail last year. The store at Edinburgh Airport showcases the brand’s gins and liqueurs.
