Diageo India breaks ground on Goan spirits hub

The latest project from Diageo India – the Good Craft Co Flavour Market in Ponda, Goa – will feature a craft distillery, innovation lab and ‘immersive’ experience centre.

The site is expected to open in April 2026

The venture is said to be the world’s ‘largest’ destination dedicated to Indian craft spirits and is located on the site where India’s first single malt was produced.

Diageo said the project is the latest milestone in its commitment to ‘fostering craft, culture, and collaboration’ through The Good Craft Co.

The 11-acre site is based in Goa’s forests and will open in April 2026.

Visitors can take a distillery tour alongside a spice walk and botanical trail, which highlights local terroir and ingredients.

The Flavour Market will also be home to India Rare Spirits, Diageo India’s luxury cask programme.

Other aspects of the project include a nanobrewery and nanodistillery, a startup incubator to support emerging brands in the food and beverage space, a retail destination for craft spirits and a craft bar and tasting room. The latter will showcase seasonal cocktail and food menus and offer chef and mixologist collaborations.

It will also house the Academy, a platform for workshops, mentorship and community, offering certified courses in the beverage space.

The Flavour Market follows the Good Craft Co’s Flavour Lab in Bangalore, which opened in September 2024.

Vikram Damodaran, Diageo India’s chief innovation officer, said: “The Good Craft Co began as a way to spark curiosity and conversations around Indian craft spirits.

“The Flavour Lab in Bangalore laid the foundation, but with Ponda, we are building something far more ambitious. It’s a dynamic space where different parts of the community can engage with Indian craft spirits in meaningful ways.

“Whether you are a distiller, a chef, an entrepreneur, or just someone who is curious, Ponda has something to offer – and we can’t wait to welcome people to experience it for themselves when we open doors. Under one roof, we are bringing together ideas, people and experiences to explore conscious consumption and hone the future of craft. We are excited to see what takes shape here.”
